Philippine President Should Learn from Thailand Trouble

GMA's winning streak, how long  can she hold the line?

In the lips of  any Tom, Dick and Harry who opposes to anything GMA does, at least three famous last lines keep hounding them no end. Nobody runs forever is one. Two is, sometimes the runner stumbles, and third is a play of the famous Latin swan song Sic transit Gloria Pilipinas. Or roughly translated, there goes Gloria of the Philippines.

To say that among GMA haters, this is not the mantra, is a lot of dung. The survey figures say so. With her popularity rating at its all-time low, this is as if telling people that she is the most hated person in the country Some sectors are even calling for her to step down because she is not only part of the problem, she is also part of the solution. This means, one of the only way to save us from the quagmire of uncertainties is for Gloria to get lost in the country's political  firmament. That is the solution.

But to the scorn and consternation of those who hated her most, her staying power is simply amazing. While other world leaders find it easy to grab power, staying in power longer than expected is a different ballgame altogether.

But not Gloria. Not only is she riding in the strong shoulders of ass licking supporters, there seems to be no end on sight in his winning streak. How long will she hold on is another matter where at this point nobody can really tell.

Thus, the question, does she has her own share of bad luck? Definitely, yes. If everything in this world is driven by the will of God, who is she to be exempted from the wrath of the people or God. Even if she were compared sometimes to Jesus Christ, she is just as human being as anybody like you and me and therefore just  as vulnerable to the vagaries of the law of diminishing returns.

Ergo, take your time. Just be patient and the call for calm and sobriety is in order.

For all you know, her winning ways are still working to her advantage.

Unless a major upheaval is forthcoming, Gloria is still here to stay. But remember nobody runs forever.

In the meantime, relax and count your blessings.

Only several days ago, she pulled off another coup. When her minions in the House of Representatives threw out without any sense of compulsion or guilt the so-called impeachment complaint, except for the minority block, nobody raised a howl of protest in massive proportion.

What does it mean? Does it mean that the people has thrown in the towel because protesting of what it appeared to be another cover up to Gloria's sins of omissions was another futile exercise?

In nearby Thailand demonstrators were taking over airports to dramatize their demand for their prime minister to get lost from that country's parliamentary government.

As for Gloria's favorite apologists, they are all over town to downplay the impact of Thailand's political turmoil. That it is closer to home is enough reason to worry. Our beloved President must be cringing in fear that if the Thailand nightmare  will come to haunt her, by all means, she should stay awake all night long just to prevent her from experiencing the fear that she has been anticipating all throughout her embattled presidency. Can she hold on one more time given the Thailand experience? Your guess is as good as this Bglante's.

Iran will start exporting gas to Iraq

Iran will start exporting gas to Iraq within the next three months, Iranian Oil Minister Rostam Qasemi said on Sunday. Qasemi, who met with his Iraqi counterpart Abdul Kareem al-Luaibi in Baghdad, said the agreement on Iranian gas supplies to Iraq had "reached the stage of final signing." "The launch of gas exports will proceed by stages, First, gas will start to be supplied to Baghdad and then, within another three months, to Basra," official news agency IRNA quoted Qasemi as saying. Iraq is expected to consume about 20-25 million cubic meters of Iranian gas per day. Iran, which has the world's second largest natural gas reserves after Russia, is also close to signing an agreement on gas supplies to Syria via Iraq, Qasemi said. "The signing of this agreement will take place in Tehran with the participation of representatives from the three countries," the Iranian oil minister said. In the summer of 2010, Iran, Iraq and Syria signed a memora...

Buried Treasures in Bohol Philippines

Written by Joe Espiritu       Four persons died in a treasure hunting accident last week. They died for nothing. Many had lost their shirts in the venture, the propensity for Filipinos to get rich quick attribute to the treasure hunting mania. The sad part is that only the ignorant venture on the search, those in the know, being sure that nothing will come out of the effort would not think of investing money, time and effort – this time lives – in a fruitless enterprise.        There had been stories of people getting rich uncovering treasure troves in unlikely places. Most stories are false. Ancient graves of archeological and anthropological value had been desecrated by treasure hunters. They had found nothing. Those people may have struck it rich but not from some hidden riches. Contrary to what other people say, there are no buried treasures in Bohol . If there had been, they were unearthed years ago.         If one ...

Fast Website Speed Affects Google Search Ranking

Over the course of 2009, a consistent theme that Google has been involved with is that of speed. In announcement after announcement, Google has talked about the importance of speed on the web, and how the company wants to do everything it can to make the web a faster place. Has it occurred to you that how fast your page loads may have a direct effect on how your site ranks in Google?  Don't worry, it hasn't had an impact...yet. In an interview with WebProNews , Google's Matt Cutts told us that speed may soon be a ranking factor.  "Historically, we haven't had to use it in our search rankings, but a lot of people within Google think that the web should be fast," says Cutts. "It should be a good experience, and so it's sort of fair to say that if you're a fast site, maybe you should get a little bit of a bonus. If you really have an awfully slow site, then maybe users don't want that as much." "I think a lot of people in 2010 are g...
