Two big investors now establish their businesses in the province after finally completing their requirements, an official from the Provincial Board of Investments said. Solomon Bilaoen Vice Chairman of PBI said that the during their Board meeting two weeks ago, they approved the applications of Caraga Palm Ventures, Inc. in Sta. Josefa and Hantex Manufacturing Corporation in Bayugan. Bilaoen, said that CPVI which produces palm oil and HMC which produces veneer products will generate employment in the province. Bilaoen disclosed that with the development of roads and bridges and other infrastructures in the province, more investors will be encouraged to apply for investment incentives. An amount of P1.3 million has been allocated by the local government unit (LGU) of Tabango in Leyte province to develop its eco-tourism destination to attract more local and foreign tourists to visit their place and experience the many natural attractions that are entirely unique from what they have seen in other places of the country. US Navy salvage teams are now placing stable Kevlar lines at the hull of the grounded USS Guardian (MCM-5) which ran aground at Tubbataha Reef in the Sulu Sea last Jan. 17. This effort is meant to reduce the strain the minesweeper is receiving due to constant wave actions, the US Embassy in Manila said in a statement. Aside from this, US Navy ship salvage and maritime architecture experts continue to develop the salvage plan and perform work to reinforce the structure of the stricken vessel. The US Navy reported that no fuel has leaked since the grounding, and all of the ship's approximately 15,000 gallons of diesel fuel was safely transferred to the US-contracted Malaysian tugboat, Vos Apollo, during controlled defueling operations completed last Jan. 25. Two heavy lift ship-borne cranes have been contracted to support the salvage operations, and are due to arrive at the area by Feb. 1.

This was learned on Wednesday from MACS general manager Rhodel Esteban who said by email the catering firm was cited for excellence of service during the year and rated the best in a field of 15 other competing catering service providers worldwide. "MACS bested 15 catering stations in Group 1 (stations handling 15 or more weekly flight frequencies) within the Singapore Arilines (SQ) network on the strength of the company's excellent catering products and services," Esteban said. China's economy will expand at 8.4 percent this year, up from the 7.8-percent growth rate of 2012, a research institute under the country's top science academy has predicted. China, the world's second-largest economy, will see a mild pick-up in 2013 amid sluggish external demand, according to a report released on Saturday by the Center for Forecasting Science under the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Chen Xikang, deputy director of the center's academic committee, said that difficulties still loom large over China's recovery process as investment and export take up too big a proportion of the economic structure and consumption still remains weak.
